Pierre Bex style Art
Deco abstract bow brooch
The bow brooch has been a classic design
through several eras of jewellery. The abstract tooling and
geometric shape of this

(Paris) copied Art Deco designs from original toolings in the 60's to
the 80's.
This Art Deco Brooch would look great on a summer jacket.
It is 6 cm in length and 1.2 cm wide. (2 3/8 by 1/2 in).
This Art Deco style brooch is in good condition.

Art Deco style arrow
brooch
The signal that this is an Art Deco style
is the geometric shapes and the sense of movement - it almost looks as
if it is in flight. We have ivory and gold tone enamel earrings in
the earring gallery that would coordinate well with this unusual brooch.
It is 9.8 cm long and 1.8 cm at its widest point (3 3/4 by 5/8 in).
This
evocative Art Deco style brooch is in good vintage condition.

Triangular enamel Art Deco style brooch
This lovely brooch combines Art Deco
geometry with the fragility of abstract pink flowers. It
resembles items from the Pierre Bex line (Pierre Bex made
retro jewellery with original toolings in Paris, mostly in the
1970's decade).
It is 1.7 cm
(h) by 7 cm (w) (.7 by 2.8 in).

Flamingo brooch
A whimsical figurative brooch that pays
homage to the jelly belly brooch. The original animals featured a
'belly' of Lucite. The story is that these were inspired by war
time material shortages for jewellery making - made during during
WWII by Trifari, with left over Lucite from plane manufacturing.
The 1940's style brooch is 6 cm (h) by 4
cm (w) (2.4 by 1.6 in). It is in good vintage
condition. |

Triangular rhinestone brooch
This quirky triangle reminds us of a graph
when worn in this position, but could be worn in any angle the
owner fancies. The identically sized stones are set with
prongs and are close enough to give a pave appearance.
The overall size is 3.5 cm (h) by 3.5 cm (w)
(1.4 by 1.4 inch).
Each stone is just under 3 mm (less than 1/8 in) square.
The brooch and all the stones are in good
condition. |

Blue flower spray rhinestone brooch
The flower spray is a popular design throughout jewellery eras. This has 2 large flowers in an amazing
blue. The larger blue stones are prong held, with the
smaller round stones of varying shades of blue and the clear
stones invisibly fixed into the silver toned design.
This is a large, showy brooch with good
detail and beautiful flowing lines. It is 6.3 (h) by 5.5
cm (w) (2.5 by 2.2 inches).
We think this is in the 1950's tradition of cocktail jewellery.
It is in good vintage condition.

Czech pressed glass brooch on chain
This remarkable brooch is marked 'made in
Czechslov' (sic). It is pressed or moulded glass with silver decoration. It is similar in materials to Gablonz
brooches produced in the 20's and 30's, but may have been made
pre WWI.
The top bar is 3cm wide by 1 cm in height
(1.2 by .4 inch).
The hanging flower is 3.5 cm long and 3 cm wide(1.4 by 1.2 in). Overall
the brooch measures 5.8 cm (2.3 inch).
There are some surface scratches on the
bottom of the top bar and there appears to be a crack at the top
of the flower, though there are no signs that it has come apart. |

Celtic style amber and
silver bar brooch
This Celtic style bar brooch is
unmarked, but tested for 925 silver. It features a
classic Celtic knot with a pointed oval amber stone in
the centre. The bar brooch was popular in
Victorian costume jewellery and was still in vogue in
the Art Deco jewellery period (see above). Arts and Crafts
designers were influenced by ancient Celtic jewellery.
The bar is about 5 cm (2 in) long
and almost .9 cm (almost 3/8 in) wide. The amber
stone is 1.5 cm (5/8 in) long and 6 cm (1/4in) wide.
There is more coordinating amber jewellery in the
necklace and bracelet galleries.
This Celtic style bar brooch is in
good condition. |

Art Deco style bow brooch
The bow is a traditional jewellery motif,
particularly popular in the 18th century and regularly
reappearing since then. This stylistic 1930's geometric
interpretation closely resembles the Pierre Bex line (Pierre Bex
made retro jewellery with original toolings in Paris, mostly in
the 1970's decade).
This Art Deco style bow brooch has gold tone embossing
together with black enamel, all covered in a smooth, shiny
protective coating. it is 3.5 cm in length by 2.6 cm wide
(1.4 by 1 inch).
It is in good vintage condition. |

Enamel butterfly brooch
We think this is a modern retro version of
the ever popular butterfly brooch. It is
reminiscent of Art
Nouveau design by its
muted enamel colours and the cabochon glass insets.
It is 3.1 cm

Enamel summer bonnet brooch
We think this lovely yellow enamel brooch epitomises the summer bonnet. Three
small flowers,
each centred with a citron coloured diamante, are attached to a
raised silver twist ribbon. The inside backing is silver
tone. This is a classic design that
we think fits this season's prim 1950's look.
It is 4 cm
(h) by 3.5 cm (w) (1 5/8 by 1 3/8 in).
There is some
slight thinness to the enamel at the edge of the brim - this
is reflected in the price.

Jade art deco bar
brooch
Oriental jade jewellery was very popular in
the 1920's and early 30's and the design of this silver tone
brooch shows the geometric influence of the Art Deco period.
There is a seed pearl (possibly faux) on each side of the
jade stone.
The stone appears to be in the jadeite
category of jade (as opposed to the more common and less
valuable nephrite, which is generally much darker). The
stone is marbled, carved and pierced. Good copies of jade
were made from glass during this period, but the uneven texture
of the back of the stone leads me to believe this is not a glass
copy. The
length of the brooch is about 6 cm and 1 cm at the widest
point (2.4 by .4 in). The stone is 1.4 cm long and 1 cm wide
(.6 by
.4 inch). It is
marked with numbers but we have not been able to interpret them. It is
in good vintage condition. |

Enamel flower basket brooch
The flower basket brooch has been
reinterpreted throughout the ages. What makes this
especially desirable is the detail in the gold tone textured
rope handle and basket weaving, as well as the muted autumnal
colouring of the enamelled petals and leaves.
This brooch
measures 3.5 (h) by 4 cm (w) (1.4 by 1.6 in). It is in good vintage
condition. |
