Art Deco style
'machine age' necklace |

The machine age was one of the
inspirations of the Art Deco period. This

(perhaps mahogany).
The necklace is 52.5 cm (20 5/8 in)
long - Princess length. The individual beads are
about .4 cm wide (1/4 in) and the tubes are 1.7 cm (3/4
in) long.

Art Deco style arrow

if it is in flight. We have ivory and gold tone enamel earrings in
the earring gallery that would coordinate well with this unusual brooch.
It is 9.8 cm long and 1.8 cm at its widest point (3 3/4 by 5/8 in).

Pierre Bex style Art
Deco abstract bow brooch
The bow brooch has been a classic design
through several eras of jewellery. The abstract tooling and

delightful brooch fits with the Art Deco period. Pierre Bex
(Paris) copied Art Deco designs from original toolings in the 60's to
the 80's.
This Art Deco Brooch would look great on a summer jacket.
It is 6 cm in length and 1.2 cm wide. (2 3/8 by 1/2 in).

Deco Egyptian
Revival earrings
Another example of the Egyptian Revival style that was popular in the
Art Deco period. These semi circular earrings have raised designs
on the front over a textured background. The backs are marked 9.25
with a maker's mark of 'Noy Li'. There is revival detailing
on the stem and wire, which has a safety closure.
They are
3

We have deliberately not over polished this sterling silver Egyptian
Revival jewellery to preserve the contrast

Art Deco
silver and amethyst earrings
Again the Art Deco drape, this time in unmarked silver (tested as 9.25) with a teardrop
amethyst set at one end. The folds of the drape give a sense of
speed and movement, which is a recurring theme in the Art Deco period.
These are a small scale, just 1.5

Semi circle enamel earrings
These colourful earrings are in a style that
closely resembles the Pierre Bex line. Pierre Bex
jewellery was manufactured in France from 1969 thru to the 80's,
from old moulds and using original toolings from the art deco
period. So, this is
jewellery that is a high quality retro copy of vintage Art
Deco, and is now about 30 years old!
Pierre Bex is characterised by classic Art
Deco styling, often a combination of metal tooling and enamel
with a clear coating that protects the design beneath.
These earrings are 1.7 cm high and 3 cm
across (5/8 by 1 1/4) in) and in good condition. |

Art deco style bow brooch

particularly popular in the 18th century and regularly
reappearing since then. This stylistic 1930's geometric
interpretation closely resembles the Pierre Bex line (see
above).

together with black enamel, all covered in a smooth, shiny
protective coating. It is 3.5 cm in length by 2.6 cm wide
(1.4 by 1 inch).

Shell earrings in
Art Deco triangular shape
These Art Deco shaped earrings are
not for the faint hearted. They are made from abalone shell and
constantly change hue as they reflect the colours around them.
In dull light, there are subtle hints of blue, green and pink in the
grains with a mainly grayish- brown background. However, in
any bright light, they dazzle with colour. Both earrings have many
shades, but in one the pink tinges show through more prominently than the blues and
greens. These colour variations are to be expected in a natural
material.
They
are 5 cm by 3.5 cm (2 by 1 /3/8 inches).
These
amazing chameleon-like earrings are in
good condition.

Deco retro earrings
These are very much in the style of
Pierre Bex, who made Art Deco style earrings out of original toolings
from the 60's to the 80's in Paris. This elegant elongated shape
and motif were often seen in bar brooches (usually worn horizontally).
They are 5 cm long by 1.1 cm wide. (2 by

Art
Deco tortoise shell drape earrings
These exquisite Art Deco beauties look
like they are made from tortoise shell.
There is a subtle grain and, held
up to the light, the longer, thinner part of the drape is a rich brown
that
shows a cloud-like hazy stripe. The back has natural markings that
lend credence to the drape being made of an organic material. The folded
over part is a deep dark brown, almost black.
They are
a dramatic size, 6.5 cm by 1.9 cm (2.5 by 3/4 inches).

metal.
They are 6 cm by 1.1 cm (2 3/8 by 1/2 inches).

Embossed
Egyptian Revival gold tone necklace. |
|
This stunning necklace traces its
inspiration from one of many Egyptian revivals, which
include the Art Deco period. The clever mechanism for
holding the individual tabs on the necklace means that
it lies perfectly on the neck. Each tab has raised wavy
lines in a stylised hieroglyphic design.
There is a crafted extension chain
at the back that allows the necklace to be adjustable
from choker length (25.5 cm/ 10 in) to a princess length
(45 cm/ 17.5 in). The tabs are 1.5 cm (.6 in) long by
.4 cm (1/4 in wide).
This necklace has some discoloration
to the gold tone finish on the last two tabs at one end
(next to extension chain). This
has been reflected in the price. |

Art Deco style Egyptian
Revival earrings
Ancient Egyptian jewellery had several revivals - including during the
Art Deco period, this time influenced by the discovery of Tutankhamen's
tomb in 1922. These stunners are varied shades of the
popular turquoise enamel in a
modified inverse fan shape. The gold tone lines accent the colour,
both enhanced by the movement of the earrings when worn.
They are
1.7
cm h and 2.5 cm w (3/4 by 1 inch).

Jade Art Deco bar
brooch
Oriental jade jewellery was very popular in
the 1920's and early 30's and the design of this silver tone
brooch shows the geometric influence of the Art Deco period.
There is a seed pearl (possibly faux) on each side of the
jade stone.
The stone appears to be in the jadeite
category of jade (as opposed to the more common and less
valuable nephrite, which is generally much darker). The
stone is marbled, carved and pierced. Good copies of jade
were made from glass during this period, but the uneven texture
of the back of the stone leads us to believe this is not a glass
copy. The
length of the brooch is about 6 cm and 1 cm at the widest
point (2.4 by .4 in). The stone is 1.4 cm long and 1 cm wide
(.6 by
.4 inch). It is
marked with numbers but we have not been able to interpret them. It is
in good vintage condition. |

Art Deco teardrop
earrings
This colour has been described as Art Deco green. The walls of the
Art Deco interior of Eltham Palace in South East London are painted in a
similar colour. These graceful elongated teardrops are made
completely of plastic and have distinct ridges down the front, which
gives a two tone effect.
The teardrop is 4.6 cm by 1.1 cm (1 3/4 by 1/2 inches).
These vintage Art Deco earrings are in good condition apart from a small
white mark at the top of the reverse side of one of the earrings, which
would not show when worn.

Amber colour
facetted cut glass necklace |
|
We saw a necklace similar to this in
a Hercule Poirot rerun, in a scene with a white Bakelite
telephone on a chrome and glass art deco table.
What is normally referred to as
crystal is more accurately described as facetted cut
glass. A beautiful light catcher, these graduated
round beads are attached with gold tone hooked wires.
The necklace is choker length - 39.5
cm (15.5 inches long). The beads range from
range from 1 cm in
diameter (1/2 in) to .6 cm (1/4) inch.
It is in good vintage condition. |

Green and Black
Art Deco Lucite necklace |
|
The triangles on this Art Deco vintage Lucite necklace are flat on
the back and curved on the top, a real light catcher.
The oval green beads are spaced with black Lucite rondells. The triangular beads are arranged
asymmetrically, as in the photo original. The barrel style clasp is made of the
same green Lucite, a nice touch.
The necklace is 49cm (19.25 in) long,
in the Princess length range (the next length longer
than the choker). The triangular beads are about
4cm (1.5 in by 2cm (7/8 in) and the oval beads 1.5
(5/8in) by 1 cm (3/8in). This recognisably vintage art deco
necklace is in good condition. |
